Before you ever rule over fear, you are going to have to admit that it rules over you. This is probably where more than 90% of us miss it. The world we live in does not respond well to known liars. We do however respond quite well to unknown liars. If someone is caught in a lie, the worst response they get out of others in when they try to defend themselves. People hate this. When you believe someone is lying to you, your defenses go up very quickly.
Now contrast that with how we respond favorably to unknown liars. It is unfortunate how people often tell lies for self-gain. Politicians are great at this. No matter what you think of the Clintons (or the Bushes), you cannot argue that they are truthful 100% of the time. We all hate being lied to, but we love to believe lies. The reason we will do this is that the truth (if we were to believe it) will often break our paradigm. Most of us will protect at nearly all cost the comfort we feel in believing that our view of things is correct. This screws us big time when we are wrong.
Before I ever could learn to rule over fear, I had to believe that fear was ruling over me. I made dozens of excuses for why I did the things that I did. I was a great bullshitter – r
eally one of the best. People who constantly bow down to fear, either look very feeble or carry a false sense of accomplishment. They either look weak, or try to appear strong. I can spot this pseudo strength with the best of them, because I used to artificially prop myself up with the best of them.
Long before I ever learned to Jump Afraid, I first had to come to the realization that I was afraid. More to come!
